First Luther Scholarship Handed Out at Central High

Chattanooga (WDEF) – Central High school handed out it’s first Luther scholarship today.It was one of dozens of scholarships handed out this morning at the Class Day awards ceremony.

Of course, Luther was a proud Central alum from the class of 1941.

The first winner is Philip Bonnington.

“I was really honored, especially to be the first to receive this award. From everything I’ve heard, Luther is a pretty amazing guy, not only for Central, but the community in general. He’s done a lot of great things and I hope to follow in his footsteps.”

To qualify, seniors need a “B” average, an interest in communications, and good character.
