First Responders Hold Benefit for Fatal Fire Victims
TRION, Ga. (WDEF) — North Georgia residents are stepping in to help the family of the six people killed in a mobile home fire.
Two adults and four children were killed in the fire late last Sunday night in Trion.
On Saturday, first responders and residents gathered to raise money for the Jones-Kendrick family to help cover funeral expenses.
Attendees enjoyed gospel music, burgers and hot dogs, plus face painting for the kids.
Between Saturday’s event and another fundraiser, first responders raised $12,875.
They tell News 12 they’re glad so many people came out to help.
“The community is really lifting this family up,” said Capt. Justin Lowe, Trion Volunteer Fire Department. “They’ve been steady all day. A lot of support from the community.”
The State Fire Marshal is still looking into what caused the fire.
The family’s funeral was held late Saturday afternoon at Ridgeway Baptist Church.
