Fisherman apparently drowns after boat sinks on Nickajack Lake
NICKAJACK LAKE, Tennessee (WDEF) – Investigators have recovered the body of a Whitwell man who apparently drowned after his boat sank overnight on Nickajack Lake.
Three men went out bowfishing Thursday night.
The survivors say that around 10:30 PM, their 15 foot Lowe fishing boat began to take on water.
The three men jumped into the water to swim for it.
But two of them said 24 year old Ronnie Gholston quite communicating with them as they swam.
The other two reached an island near Bennett Lake Access.
Around 2 AM they heard someone at the boat ramp and called for help.
TWRA’s sonar found Gholston’s body in over 40 feet of water.
The incident remains under investigation.
