Flooding damage at Little River Canyon Preserve
FORT PAYNE, Alabama (WDEF) – The Little River begins on Lookout Mountain and flows off through a gorge on the southern end in Alabama.
That area is the Little River Canyon National Preserve.
Today, the park is showing the damage done by flood waters cascading down the river on Sunday night.
Cherokee County Road 275 to Canyon Mouth Park is still under water.
Their split-rail fences have been moved all over the area.
Benches, fire pits, recycling bins and a soccer goal were lost.
Officials say the Canyon Mouth Trail had up to six feet of water over it.
