Florida runaway juveniles found in DeKalb County
DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. (WDEF) — Two juveniles from Florida ran away from home and were later found at a house in Alabama, according to DeKalb County authorities.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office in Florida contacted the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, stating the juveniles may be at a home near Kilpatrick.
DeKalb County authorities went to the given address and located the juveniles. They then contacted the Department of Human Resources and turned over the juveniles. They will be returned to Florida.
They arrested a Kilpatrick woman, 41-year-old Aura Sanchez-Lopez. Her charges include two counts of interference with custody and two counts of obstructing government operations.
Sheriff Nick Welden made this statement on the incident:
“I’m proud of the quick response taken by the Investigators in this case to safely locate the juveniles. I would like to thank the Lee County Sheriff’s Office for reaching out to us so that the juveniles can be returned to their family in Florida, as well as the investigators and deputies who worked tirelessly to successfully locate these children. Children are the most precious gifts and our agency will always do whatever it takes to protect them.”
Authorities have not specified how old the juveniles are.
The investigation is still ongoing.
