Florida woman charged after crash kills her two children in Bradley County

BRADLEY COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) —  A Florida woman was arrested in Bradley County after a crash killed her son and daughter.

On Monday, July 14, 2025, around 11:00 a.m., a Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) trooper responded to the accident on I-75.

Upon arrival, the trooper was advised that the woman’s, Emily Shaver, vehicle was traveling northbound when the right rear tire blew out.

Shaver lost control of the vehicle, sending it into the southbound lanes of I-75.

According to court documents, Shaver’s vehicle collided head-on with another car, which then struck a third vehicle in the right-hand lane.

As a result of the crash, Shaver was ejected from her vehicle.

Authorities found her son deceased and her daughter in critical condition inside the vehicle.

Shaver’s daughter was flown via life flight to a hospital, where she later died.

The driver of the vehicle involved in the head-on collision was taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

During the investigation, the trooper located a bag of what appeared to be 2 grams of marijuana.

Shaver admitted to EMS personnel that she had smoked marijuana before the collision.

The trooper was also able to confirm that Shaver’s son was not properly restrained before the collision.

She was booked into the Bradley County Jail on July 17, 2025 and is being charged with the following:

  • Driving Under the Influence
  • Vehicular Homicide (2 counts)
  • Reckless Endangerment
  • Simple Possession/Casual Exchange
  • Child Restraint
