Food City Comes To Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA,TN, (WDEF)-Stocking and clearing shelves for dozens of staff at the new Food City  on Dayton Blvd.

Jesse Lewis, VP Of Food City,"Reemployed every BiLo employee that we possibly could, i think we have a huge portion of them coming on board with us, all the store managers are coming on board, the department managers".

Employees are excited by the takeover.

Mike Tipton, Produce and Floral,"Over 900 varieties in the produce department and fresh produce from all around the world and we are looking forward to letting the community in and see what we have to offer as well as the local produce that we will continue to have and add more to that as well".

Natalie King, Bakery & Deli,"Well i was there for 25 years so i am going to miss part of the family that did not transition over but asides from that, i love Food City, that’s my new home".

4 BiLo stores will be converted to Food City this week with more coming in the weeks and month leading up to the middle of October".

But what about those precious BiLo fuel points.

Jesse Lewis, VP Of Food City,"Well there won’t be fuel points for a period of time but you will start seeing Food City Gas and Go pop up as fast as we can get it going, in the mean time the fuel points can still be accumulated and can be used for discount on groceries".

Dayton Blvd’s Food City is set to open on Wednesday.
All 29 Food Cities in Chattanooga and North Georgia should be fully operational by October 14th.
