Food City hands out checks from School Bucks program

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Food City grocery store chain handed out $100,000 to Chattanooga and North Georgia schools on Monday.

The schools took part in the 2015-16 Food City School Bucks program.

Elementary, middle and high schools sign up for the program at the Food City website.

They get barcoded school IDs that students then circulate to education supporters.

For every $10 that customers purchase of Food City Exclusive Brands, their designated school gets a point.

The final donation is based on the number of points each school collects.

Eligible schools are encouraged to visit the website to register at www.foodcity.com, or for more information about the program or how to participate, they can contact the Food City School Bucks Coordinator, Lisa Johnson at 1-800-232-0174.
