Forest Service Adds New Link to The Trail of Tears in Monroe County

The U-S forest Service and the Conservation Fund finalized a land purchase today in the Cherokee National forest region.
It covers about 220 acres of land in the Coker Creek area near the Tennessee North Carolina border.
It will be added to the Trail of Tears National Historic Trail.
The trail marks the path that Cherokees took along their forced expulsion to reservations in the west.
