Former Automotive Engineer from Soddy Daisy Kickstarts Handcrafted Fishing Rod Business
Jeff Lomino says his background in engineering helped and the rods are extra light with carbon fibre handles so they respond quicker to the fisherman and the fish.
"Lean up the overall design, we trimmed the fat from every possible place, what I think we have done is create a light weight super strong, very durable product that can be passed down to the generations"
Each rod takes Lomino 15 hours to hand craft and they have a lifespan of 1000 years.
We decided to come here to Chickamauga to put the rod through its paces and get the opinion of local fishermen
It didn’t take long for local fishermen to start asking why wasn’t there a cork handle amnd how was the rod was so light?
Paul Hixon, Chattanooga fisherman,"As far as craftsmanship and quality id almost compare it to a piece of art, really beautiful, well made the action was very predictable"
Lomino says he’s grateful for the support here in Tennessee and finds more and more fishermen are wanting to buy local and made in the USA rods.
