Affidavit: Former Caregiver Charged with Attempted Murder

Marcella Ann CollinsHAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A former caregiver is behind bars, accused of strangling her former patient.

Marcella Collins is being charged with aggravated abuse of an elderly or vulnerable adult, attempted first degree murder, especially aggravated robbery, and aggravated burglary.

According to an affidavit from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, it happened at 7809 Scrapeshin Trail Thursday night.

In the affidavit, the victim told deputies the former employee spent 30 minutes to an hour strangling him, and $4,000 was missing after she left.

The affidavit says deputies learned Collins was fired last week, and was asked not to return.
