Former CHI Memorial Hospital Officially Transitions to CommonSpirit Name
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)— CommonSpirit – Memorial Hospital officially unveiled its new name and branding Wednesday, marking the final step in its transition from CHI Memorial Hospital.
Hospital leaders revealed new signage during an outdoor ceremony, saying the rebrand reflects a renewed commitment to patient care and the hospital’s future in the Chattanooga region.
James Williams, market chief operating officer, said the change has been years in the making following a national healthcare merger.
“This rebranding is really the last step of integrating into CommonSpirit,” Williams said. “CHI and Dignity Health merged in 2019, and while we’ve been part of CommonSpirit since then, the pandemic delayed fully unifying the brand. We’re proud to be the first market in the South to embrace the CommonSpirit name.”
Hospital officials emphasized that while the name and branding are changing, patient care, services, and staff remain the same.
The new CommonSpirit branding connects Memorial Hospital to one of the nation’s largest nonprofit health systems, providing access to expanded resources while continuing the hospital’s long-standing mission of compassionate care.
Leaders say the transition positions CommonSpirit – Memorial Hospital for continued growth and service to the Chattanooga community.
