Former Georgia Governors Teaming Up For New Healthcare Facility in LaFayette

LaFayette, GA (WDEF) – Two former Georgia governors are pledging their support to help raise money for a new healthcare facility in LaFayette. Roy Barnes and Nathan Deal will co-chair the fundraising campaign.

The non-profit organization Healthy Foundations made the announcement Thursday. It’s being called a transformational village. The goal is to complete the project in three to five years. The target completion date for “phase one” is next year.

The campus will help the general public, and specifically veterans and first responders, with both health and social needs. Those behind the project say there is a tremendous need.

DeLaine Hunter, the CEO of Healthy Foundations, said, “I saw the need. They need more than healthcare. They need other things that go along with that. My personal experience said we must do something. Because nobody else is doing what needs to be done.”

“Every place I’ve gone, there’s been an overwhelming need to have a place that focuses not only on the health side, but as well as the social side,” said Terry Tucker, President of Healthy Foundations.

The capital campaign has a goal of raising $150 million.
