Former Marion County bailiff charged for sexual battery
MARION COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — A former Marion County court officer has been charged with sexual battery of three female inmates.
Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) special agents began an investigation on complaints toward Marshall A. Raines about sexually assaulting female inmates in August 2023.
At the time, Raines was a part time Marion County Sheriff’s Department bailiff/court officer.
While conducting the investigation, TBI agents obtained information that Raines sexually assaulted at least three female inmates between September 2022 and March 2023.
He would do so while transporting them to a facility in Lebanon from Marion County.
Raines is being charged with one count of Sexual Battery, Sexual Contact with an Inmate, Official Misconduct, and Official Oppression for each inmate.
Raines is no longer an employee of the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.
