Four Chattanooga police officers on leave following shooting

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Last weekend’s standoff in Chattanooga has resulted in four officers being on paid administrative leave.

The incident happened on South Kelley Street on September 2. A man pointed a gun at police, and police shot that person, CPD said.

It is protocol for Chattanooga police officers to go on administrative leave after a shooting.

The following officers are on leave:

  • Jeremiah Cook
  • Camy Barber
  • Christian Burgeson
  • Nicholas Wilde

This is what CPD recently said on the incident:

“Officers got the call to the 1900 block of South Kelley Street at 11:35 Saturday night. They were able to escort family members out of the residence, during which the suspect pointed his gun at the officers. After the other members had been escorted out, the suspect came out a back door and again pointed his gun at police, officers engaged and shot the suspect.”

The TBI is investigating the incident.
