Four People Honored At Hero’s Luncheon

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Chattanooga chapter of the American Red Cross today honored 4 people as local heroes.

Every community has people who go the extra step in serving and sometimes saving their fellow citizens.

Four individuals were saluted today at the 9th annual heroes luncheon.

Jeffery Dews is the youth hero.

He used CPR to save a child from drowning.

Police officer Aaron Williams saved a resident from a burning apartment.

Police officer Zak Crawford saved the life of a shooting victim before EMS could arrive.

And retired Navy Captain Mickey McCamish has been leading the way in serving and honoring the city’s military men and women.

“This is our largest and only fundraiser of the year. A lot of people don’t realize that the American Red Cross is 100% funded by the public…so we rely on people to do our mission,” says Director of Communications, Sarah Basil.

Tennessee Commissioner for Economic Development Randy Boyd was named the Humanitarian Hero.
