Four suspects, three arrested in Collegedale bank fraud
COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Collegedale Police Department arrested three women and is searching for one suspect for fraudulent bank activity on Tuesday.
Collegedale Police arrested 23-year-old Nychicia Devonshare Driver, 24-year-old Mystica Justice Brown, and 24-year-old Cynthia Karen Marie Clya Jones.
SmartBank tellers called police to alert them of suspects causing a disturbance and attempting to make a fraudulent transaction.
Bank management told officers that other banks alerted them of a white sedan and black females, who attempted to open fraudulent accounts. Management told police that their descriptions matched the suspects.
Collegedale Officers arrested Driver as she was leaving the bank lobby. They are charging her with felony possession of fentanyl, felony possession of ecstasy or MDMA, and possession of marijuana.
Shortly after, SmartBank employees told police that one of the suspects returned, then got into a white Range Rover at the restaurant next door.
Collegedale Police found the Range Rover and attempted to stop it. However, it fled the scene and drove south on I-75.
Collegedale and Hamilton County Officers pursued the vehicle until they deemed it unsafe to other drivers.
Later, that vehicle crashed at the Bonny Oaks Drive and Hickory Valley Road intersection.
Officers found both involved vehicles disabled and unoccupied.
The suspects ran off, but deputies soon took them into custody.
Collegedale Police said they are charging Brown with evading police, possession of narcotics, possession of a handgun during the commission of a felony and driving on a revoked license. Brown had felony theft warrants out of Hamilton County as well, the police department said.
Police are charging Jones with evading police and possession of narcotics.
Additionally, they said further charges for all involved may still be pending.
Collegedale Police is still searching for the fourth suspect and asks the public for help.
They described her as “a black female, approximately 200 pounds and in her mid-twenties.” Anyone with information on this woman, or the white sedan, should contact Detective Robert O’Daniel.
