Fourth Quarter Flops For Falcons Cause For Concern
FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) – The Atlanta Falcons can easily pinpoint where their season has gone wrong.
Look no further than the fourth quarter.
Over the last four games, three of them losses, the Falcons (2-4) have been outscored 49-0 in the final period. They squandered leads against both Minnesota and the New York Giants, turning a potentially strong start through six weeks into a season on the brink.
Looking deeper into the numbers, Atlanta has struggled mightily in essentially all phases over the final 15 minutes of regulation. They have been dominated in time of possession and turnover margin, continually put themselves in tough situations on second and third downs, and labored to get opposing offenses off the field.
The Falcons know they must finish stronger, beginning with Sunday’s game at Baltimore (4-2).
