Franklin soccer coach charged with child rape entered U.S. illegally
FRANKLIN, Tenn. (WDEF) — Tennessee law enforcement confirmed the soccer coach charged with child rape entered the U.S. illegally.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed Camilo Hurtado Campos to be an undocumented immigrant.
Campos’ charges include rape of a child and sexual exploitation of a minor.
“Detectives found hundreds of disturbing videos and pictures on that phone,” the Franklin Police Department stated. “In many of them, Campos recorded himself raping unconscious boys between approximately 9 and 17 years old.”
Marsha Blackburn, a United States senator from Tennessee, took to Twitter to comment on the incident.
“Today we learned that the Tennessee soccer coach charged with assaulting and brutally raping several young children is an illegal alien. The sexual abuse of children is one of the most heinous crimes imaginable, and my heart breaks for the victims and their families,” Blackburn said.
She used incident as an example as to why she believes the southern border wall needs to be built.
“Every parent in America should be gravely concerned about Biden’s open border policies and the severe threat they pose to their children’s safety,” Blackburn expressed in a tweet.
On Wednesday, the Franklin Police Department said they identified a fourth victim from Campos’ photos and videos. However, they said there are at least 10 victims. In addition, on Monday, the police department said five others came forward as victims.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident and are looking for other victims.
