Frazier Avenue Revamp Complete: New Paving and Safety Measures Enhancing Pedestrian Protection

The Frazier Avenue project has received some updates: the contractor has started paving for much smoother roads and driving conditions.
Crews are actively re-striping and repaving Frazier Avenue. These changes come in response to community concerns about pedestrian safety, especially following tragic incidents earlier this year in which pedestrians lost their lives.

As part of these safety improvements, two new traffic patterns have been implemented, specifically at Cherokee Boulevard and the Baron Avenue.

“It’s finally coming to fruition! The paving and repaving of Frazier Avenue between Market and Barton Avenue was just completed today, not even a few hours ago. We expect to finish the striping tomorrow, weather permitting. With these updates, we will have several measures in place to help keep pedestrians safer,” said Justin Strickland with the City of Chattanooga.

Officials say they hope these changes will alleviate the dangers faced by those walking in this area.
