Free ‘RAM’ clinic held in Camp Jordan Arena

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Camp Jordan Arena is hosting the Remote Area Medical (RAM) clinic from Saturday, Sept. 9 to Sunday, Sept. 10.

“RAM’s mission is to prevent pain and alleviate suffering by providing free, quality healthcare. So, we’re out here in the East Ridge community today providing this pop-up clinic. We have free dental, medical, and vision care. Totally free to the individuals that need care,” RAM Media Relations Coordinator Chris Cannon said.

All services are free and open to the public. No ID is required.

“As far as the community goes, it’s neighbors helping neighbors. Everybody here is a volunteer, volunteering their time. We have a community host group that invited us. RAM only goes where we’re invited. It takes those members in this community to invite us out to serve this community,” Cannon said.

Cannon said that there were many patients that came out and took advantage of the free medical services offered at the clinic.

“It’s been a constant flow. We had the first patients in the parking lot around 3 p.m. yesterday. A lot of patients spent the night in the parking lot. Currently, we’re at capacity for the clinic today,” Cannon said.

Medical professionals from different facilities took part in the clinic to provide quality care.

“We have 40 dental operatories here. They’re all full. They’re all operating. And we’re just trying to get people taken care of,” Cannon said.

Whether you have medical experience or are just interested in helping further the mission, you can visit their website for more information.

Sunday will be a shorter clinic with dental and medical availability open– RAM encourages patients to show up earlier on Sunday to receive their care.
