From the Archives: Ice Storm of 1994
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — For our Thursday Throwback, we’re going to re-visit another difficult week of winter weather that played out a lot like the current one.
Thirty years ago, we suffered through an ice storm coupled with extreme cold.
But it was even worse, because rain froze in the trees, bringing down power lines.
Here are some of the stories we brought you this week in 1994.
The official low in Chattanooga on January 19 was just two degrees.
In all, we saw three nights in single digits that week.
There wasn’t any snow in the city that week, just rain and ice.
