Fund for Chattanooga shooting victims

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – Chattanooga city officials announce that a National Compassion Fund has been opened to support the victim’s of Thursday’s tragic shooting where 4 Marines lost their lives, one Chattanooga Police Officer was injured, and several others hurt.

Officials say 100 percent of the donations will go directly to the victims.

The National Center for Victims of Crime set it up at the request of the City of Chattanooga.

City officials say it was set up as a safe and transparent way to give to victims directly and is the only straight-to-victim fund of its kind in the country.

Also the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, Inc. has established the 7-16 Freedom Fund to cover college scholarships and educational expenses for spouses and children of the affected families.

Donations to the 7-16 Freedom Fund can be made to 1270 Market St., Chattanooga, TN 37402.
