Gas grill left on leads to house fire in Dallas Bay
DALLAS BAY, Tenn. (WDEF) – The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department was called to a house fire on Lake Meadows Drive in the Hidden Harbor neighborhood around 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

According to Hamilton County officials, the firefighters found the attic and the back of the house engulfed in fire when they arrived on the scene.
Dallas Bay Fire Chief Markus Fritts said that on one was in the house when the firefighters arrived.
According to Hamilton County officials, the homeowners were cooking hamburgers on a gas grill and forgot to turn off the gas grill. The couple heard a popping sound, then found the grill on fire on the porch.
Officials say the homeowners tried to put out the fire with a water hose and a fire extinguisher but the fire spread quickly to the house.
The homeowners and their dog escaped with no injures.
Officials estimate the damage to the house at $110,000 with an additional $10,000 in heat damage to a neighbor’s house.

Mutual aid was requested and the Red Bank Fire Department, the Soddy Daisy Fire Department, and Mutual Aid Chief Mike Williams responded to assist Dallas Bay.
The homeowners are staying with friends and family.
