Gas prices finally falling ahead of Labor Day weekend
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Gasoline prices in Chattanooga are finally falling while leading up to Labor Day weekend.
GasBuddy reports that Chattanooga’s average gas prices fell 14 cents in the last week. On Monday, those prices averaged $3.29 per gallon in Chattanooga.
This price is also 6.7 cents lower than one month ago, and 2.6 cents lower than one year ago.
The national average price of gas has fallen 4 cents as well in the last week, now averaging $3.78 per gallon. However, this price is up 5.8 cents from last month.
Though gas prices are still high nationwide, Tennessee is currently the 6th least expensive state for gas. The Tennessee average price of gas is $3.40 per gallon, according to AAA.
AAA also says Cleveland is one of the most expensive metro markets in the state, while Chattanooga is the least expensive.
“Oil prices declined last week amid market concerns that an economic slowdown in China, the world’s largest importer of crude oil, could push global oil demand down, which could also lead to lower prices,” AAA explained.
