Gas Prices in Chattanooga Area Skyrocket in Past Week

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- It was a rough week for area drivers as gas prices are skyrocketing once again. According to a survey conducted by GasBuddy, prices have risen by 17.1 cents per gallon in the past week, to a new average of about $3.97/gallon. This is $1.35/gallon higher than this time last year.

The cheapest price in the Chattanooga area was priced at $3.58/gallon. The highest in the area was at $4.39/gallon.

The national average for gas is $4.31/gallon, up 13.6 cents from a week ago. That is up 19.6 cents in the last month.

Diesel prices are even in a worse state. They rose by 22.1 cents last week to $5.52/gallon.
