Gas prices rise sharply in Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Gas prices are continuing to climb across Chattanooga, with drivers feeling the impact at the pump.

According to GasBuddy, prices in the area have increased more than 26 cents per gallon in the past week.

Compared to last month, prices are now roughly 88 cents higher, bringing the average cost to around 3 dollars and 80 cents per gallon.

Drivers say the rising costs are becoming difficult to manage.

“We need help. We need the cost of everything to come down. Gas, food, everything. It is getting really hard,” said driver, Lily Scott.

Nationally, gas prices have risen above 4 dollars per gallon, influenced in part by global tensions, including the ongoing conflict involving Iran.

Experts note that the last time prices reached similar levels was in 2022.

As prices continue to rise, drivers say they are hoping for relief, as higher fuel costs add to the growing pressure of everyday expenses.
