Gas prices soar in Chattanooga over past week

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Gas prices shot up this past week in the Chattanooga area, according to a GasBuddy survey of 170 stations.

GasBuddy said average gas prices rose 17.8 cents per gallon. Today, they average $3.13 per gallon.

This price is 12 cents per gallon higher than one month ago.

However, the national average price of gas did not change much in the last week. Nationally, gas prices rose 2 cents per gallon. The national average price of gas sits at $3.55 per gallon.

The Chattanooga price is just getting much nearer to the national average. But the average Chattanooga price had been dropping in previous weeks.
