GBI investigating after Cartersville officers involved in shooting
CARTERSVILLE, Ga. (WDEF) — Cartersville police officers were involved in a shooting on Thursday, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).
Cartersville Police Department officers went to a home on Anne Circle in Cartersville around 9:20 p.m. on November 2 for a domestic dispute.
The GBI said that once officers got out of their cars, 24-year-old Christopher Shane Milteer began shooting at them. He was still standing in the doorway of the home while shooting.
Police stood behind their cars and returned fire. They shot Milteer, and they also shot someone else inside the home, according to the GBI.
Responders took Milteer to the hospital in critical condition. The other person was treated at a hospital and released.
The GBI is now investigating this incident.
So far this year, the GBI has investigated 87 officer involved shootings.
