Georgia primary election runoff results are in

CATOOSA COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) — Many polls closed at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18 in Georgia’s primary election runoffs. We now have the final results of those runoffs.

Locally, there were two runoffs happening in Catoosa County, Georgia.

Those were for the Republican County Commissioners Chair candidate and the Republican District 3 Commissioner candidate.

County Commission Chair

Larry C. Black faced off with Steven M. Henry for Commissioner Chair. Back in May, Black received only 37% of the vote.

Henry won the commission chair runoff against Black with 52% of the vote on Tuesday, June 18.

District 3 Commissioner

Vanita Hullander and Richard Tharpe competed for District 3 Commissioner. Hullander was leading with 46% of the vote in May.

But on Tuesday, Tharpe beat Hullander. He had 53% of the vote.

According to Catoosa County Spokesman John Pless, only 10.5% of registered active voters participated in this election.

District 14 Representative

There was also a runoff for the Democratic candidate for U.S. Representative in Georgia’s District 14.

Clarence Blalock and Shawn Harris were running for this spot.

As of Wednesday morning, the Georgia Secretary of State website reported having 70% of the vote in.

They reported that Harris dominated Blalock in the race. Harris had a whopping 69% of the vote, and Blalock had only 31%.

As the winner, Harris will go on to run against Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene in November.
