Georgia Bureau of Investigation promotes Dalton native, Daniel Nicholson

DALLAS, Ga. (WDEF) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has announced that they are promoting Dalton native Daniel Nicholson to assistant special agent in charge of the Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force.

He will be responsible for supervising task force agents assigned to the task force, which serves Haralson, Paulding, and Polk Counties in Georgia.

Nicholson’s law enforcement career began in 1999, where he served around 17 years at the Dalton Police Department.

He worked several roles during his tenure in Dalton, including patrol officer, detective, and supervisor.

In November of 2016, Nicholson joined the GBI as a special agent assigned to the GBI’s Regional Investigative Office in Calhoun, Ga.

While there, he was in charge of investigating several high-profile deaths in the North Georgia area.

Nicholson has a host of certifications and training, including:

  • Intermediate & Advanced Peace Officer’s Standards and Training (POST) Certifications
  • Field Training Officer Certification
  • Supervision and Management training through the Georgia Public Safety Training Center

He is also a member of the Georgia Gang Investigators Association, as well as the FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force.
