Georgia and Kentucky Battle For SEC East Title

Hardly anyone had circled Georgia-Kentucky as one of the biggest SEC games of the year.
Yet the Dawgs and Cats will settle the league’s Eastern Division crown this weekend.

Should be two revved up teams in Lexington Saturday. Georgia coming off that victory over rival Florida. And Kentucky coming off that win with no time on the clock against Missouri.
Said Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops:”Generally I don’t get overly excited in there (locker room), but just the way that we pulled that out. The guys were just having fun. We were just. It was in the moment.
Said Georgia head coach Kirby Smart on locker room celebration after beating Florida:”I certainly enjoyed and treasured the opportunity to celebrate with our guys, and they needed that, and I needed it so.”
Now the Dawgs and Cats are looking for a bigger celebration. Saturday’s winner claims the SEC East title.
Said Georgia receiver Jeremiah Holliman:”It’s going to be a little extra fire up under us because if we lose this game, then we are not playing in Atlanta. We definitely want to go back to Atlanta this year.”
Said Stoops:”It’s just a relentless fight day-in and day-out by a lot of people to put yourself in position to play in big games.”
Kentucky will bring the fight on defense. They’re 10th in the nation in total defense.
Said Smart:”They leverage the ball well. They tackle well. They’re extremely long in the secondary. I mean they’ve got 6’2 and 6’3 corners that are good tacklers. They’ve got good safeties.”
Said Holliman:”I definitely have faith in our offense. I feel like we can go out, and we can do what we’ve got to do to get the job done.”
The Cats will have to keep the faith if they want to beat Georgia.
Said Stoops:”Well Georgia is a complete football team. They’re good in all phases. They can hurt you on any give play because of the talent that’s on the field.”

Georgia and Kentucky kick at 3:30pm Saturday, and it will be televised on News 12 Now.
