Georgia man arrested after Hamilton County pursuit in stolen car
HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — Hamilton County deputies arrested a Georgia man for fleeing arrest in a stolen car.
On Thursday, a deputy’s automated license plate reader alerted them that a maroon Buick near them was stolen out of Georgia. This was on Highway 27, near the Highway 153 exit.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) identified the driver of the Buick as 27-year-old Taylor Wayne Huston Daniels.
Authorities said Daniels stopped on Highway 153 and exited the car but ignored commands. They said he then got back into the car and reversed towards the deputy. The deputy moved out of the way and was not hit.
But then, Hamilton County deputies started pursuing Daniels, who they say went more than 100 miles per hour.
Daniels got back onto Highway 27 southbound and exited at Thrasher Pike and Middle Valley. HCSO said Daniels weaved in and out of on-coming traffic.
Then, he attempted to drive through yards and between houses to avoid capture. Authorities said Daniels then hit a freezer, which caused the car to roll on its side and hit a house.
They say Daniels then got out of the car and tried to run on foot. However, they caught up to him, but he continued to fight deputies.
Deputies then tased Daniels and took him into custody, according to the sheriff’s office.
Authorities say Daniels’ license was suspended and he had active warrants out of Dade County, Georgia.
They also found a pipe and potential marijuana on him. Deputies searched the Buick to find the VIN had been removed as well.
