Georgia Northwestern Technical College holds groundbreaking ceremony

DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) – Higher education is changing, and Georgia Northwestern Technical College is pushing ahead with its plan to adapt a curriculum that meets the specialized needs of the community.

The college took another step today with a groundbreaking ceremony in Dalton.

Phase two of the Whitfield Murray Campus of Georgia Northwestern is underway with a groundbreaking for a new building near the College and Career Academy on Maddox Chapel Road. It will be a 27.8 million dollar, 80-thousand square foot facility.

That building will be completed in 2018. The courses taught there will fit the profile of the Dalton/Whitfield/Murray community .

Governor Deal points out that since 2011, more than 608-thousand new private sector jobs have been created in Georgia.

The job of the state is make sure those industries get the trained people they need.
