Georgia Secretary of State talks about record-setting early voting numbers in Dalton

Dalton, GA (WDEF) – Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp visited Dalton Thursday.
He held a press conference in Dalton to announce new records in early absentee voting for the Georgia Presidential Preference Primary.
Secretary Kemp said even though early voting continues through Friday night, there has been a large turnout in the Peach State.
More voters headed to the polls early in this year’s election than during the 2008 presidential primary.
In Whitfield County, roughly 14-hundred people early voted.
Only 800 Whitfield County residents voted early during the 2012 presidential primary.
Secretary Kemp also talked about Georgia acting as a hot spot.
By next week’s Super Tuesday election, every one of the presidential hopefuls will have visited the Peach State at least once.
