Georgia trooper seriously injured in Catoosa County crash

Trooper Scott Parker crashed in a high speed chase on I 75

RINGGOLD, Georgia (WDEF) – Governor Brian Kemp is asking for prayers for a state trooper and his family after an early morning crash in Catoosa County.

The Georgia State Patrol says Trooper Scott Parker spotted a white SUV speeding on I-75 below the Ringgold exit around 1 AM.

But when he tried to stop it, the vehicle ran.

They say he tried a P.I.T. maneuver, but the SUV swerved at him.

When he tried to avoid the vehicle, he lost control, hit a tree and flipped.

The squad car landed on its top.

Trooper Parker was taken to Erlanger in Chattanooga.

But at last report, the driver of the SUV had not been found or identified.
