Golden Apple Award: Leah Bible, Davis Elementary
TRENTON, Ga. (WDEF) – Parents describe Davis Elementary’s Leah Bible as a smiling light. She’s an expert at teaching 3rd graders when to talk and when to listen. Ms. Bible also has gift for putting students at ease. All that earned her the Golden Apple Award.
Charity Barton is the Principal at Davis Elementary School.
She says, “Ms. Bible has a heart for kids and she has a gift of knowing kids within a few days. She gets the heart of who they are very quickly. I will say that she makes the kids love reading. They fall in love reading, and our parents love her because she’s such a good communicator and will help come up with solutions for the kids.”
Ms. Bible describes herself thusly, “I’m a mom and a friend and I hope I mentor and a teacher. I love children, maybe better than adults. They’re my favorite. Children are just so pure and honest, and they give me hope in the world and we all need hope right.”
Jaxon Shadrick is a third grader at Davis.
He says, “She’s caring she usually says yes and she’s really personable about your feelings. ”
Fellow third grader Emma Rose says, “I like being in the classroom because he’s sweet.”
Ms. Bible concludes, “Every moment that you spend with the child impacts them in a positive way, and I want them to be the best they can be academically in every way. The thought of managing people all day long seems hard for me. I’m a bit of an introvert, but in class I’m not, and the I realize with children I get to the a different version of myself that I maybe am in real life. Life is not going to be easy. And they’re going to have to meet challenges that are difficult for them. Again, perfection isn’t the goal. Just being the best version of yourself when it’s easy, is easy. When it’s hard, it’s not easy. And you have to practice that.”
