Golden Apple Award: Madison Davis, McConnell Elementary

HIXSON, TN (WDEF) – There is a certain serenity that comes from being organized. That’s one of the lessons that Madison Davis passes along to her students at McConnell Elementary. When the weather is nice, her classroom can move under a big tree outside. Those are just a couple reasons why Madison Davis earned this week’s Golden Apple Award.

Ruth Pohlman is the Principal at McConnell Elementary.

She says, “Miss Davis is a wonderful teacher. She loves her kids and it shows. She is sweet and caring and she’s just an e excellent educator.”

When asked to describe herself, Ms. Davis says, “I’m a teacher. I have taught for nine years. It’s my third year at McConnell. My passion is definitely like K2, like primary grade kids, and I just, teaching is who I am. I am married. Me and my husband we’ve been married for seven years. And we have a daughter who’s four. She’s our everything.”

Her students were happy to describe her, “She’s beautiful. And nice. She’s the world’s best teacher. She’s barely forgets.. punches. Great. She’s very good at teaching. She’s kind. She likes gnomes. Patience. She’s fun. She’s friendly. She loves purple and she’s a good teacher. She’s kind. She loves us and I love her back. She forgets stuff. She’s really kind. She’s the best teacher ever.”

“I was in third grade at Daisy Elementary and I had a teacher Miss Rogers; getting emotional. But she was so wonderful and she gave me like a love of reading. And it just kept contin… continuing to grow into a passion for learning and teaching. We’re so glad to have her. Her kids love her. And she loves her students and it shows. So we’re glad to have her” said Davis.

“I’m very thankful to be in this community. I have been here. This is my third year and I’m very thankful to um… not just the students and the, but the parents and the community surrounding McConnell. Everybody is, it’s just that’s what it, is it’s a family. It’s a community and I’m very thankful to be in it,” said Davis
