Golden Apple: Brian Kyle
ATHENS, Tenn. (WDEF) – Brian Kyle teaches U.S. History at McMinn County High School.
But his students say he also teaches them about life.
Kyle is very energetic, and makes sure his kids know that he cares about them.
That’s why he has won this week’s Golden Apple Award.
Joe Young, Assistant Principal of McMinn County High School said, “Just a great teacher; a great person; He’s the kind of teacher that years from now students come back and they want to talk to him. They want to connect with him because he’s made such an impact in their lives.”
His students have this to say about him. “He’s a really good teacher. Somebody I can understand and somebody who I can look up to.” “He always puts in an easy way when
it comes to teaching. He’s like probably the most energetic teacher that’s here.”
Brian Kyle siad, “I’ll jump up in a chair. I’m clapping. I’m the number one cheerleader for these kids here at McMinn County. So I’m the person who’s just blessed far more than I should be that I get to come and have fun and teach history and work with kids. Oh man I just get so excited. We’re talking about the civil rights movement today in class. And I think we’re better now because of some of the things that you know these folks live through and some of the things the sit-ins and the Freedom Rides; what those people suffered through and the price that they paid for us to enjoy the freedoms we do now.
I just, how can you not be excited about that.”
Makayla Kile said, “Coach Kyle is just an inspiration to everyone. Everyone needs to have that light in their life and Coach Kyle is the light in my life.”
Brian Kyle also adds, “I want these kids to have fun and enjoy their time here; it’s only, it’s four years of their life. It should be for the best years of their life. And I want them to go out there whether it be college or whether it be the workforce and to make a difference in this world. And to be successful and contribute to society I know maybe college is not for everyone but every kid in this school can go out there and be successful and make a good living and have a good life.”
