Golden Apple: Franklin Cobos
LAFAYETTE, Georgia (WDEF) – Franklin Cobos has been teaching for decades.
The LaFayette High School educator is well liked on campus.
Students say he’s compassionate, and helps them through tough times.
Administrators say he builds relationships with his kids.
Isaiah Harris is a Junior at the High School, and knows first hand how much this teacher can impact a person’s life.
“He was he was there when my Granny passed away, and I found out here at school. I came straight in to Mr. Cobos. And he read me a Bible verse that I keep with me at all times. He’s definitely changed my life, not only as my teacher, but as my friend.”
Cobos brings that passion to his teaching.
He also tries to be a positive role model for his kids.
“Many of our students have never experienced real love at home or otherwise. And so it is my purpose to not only teach them the language, but in the process to get very close to them. Because I think that if I do that and make a connection with them, they will learn a lot better.”
