Golden Apple: Stephanie Elgin, Harrison Elementary
HARRISON, Tenn. (WDEF) – Computers are part of every classroom these days. Keeping all that tech running smoothly is no small task. Thankfully, Harrison Elementary has Stephanie Elgin. For providing tech support with a smile, and so much more, Ms. Elgin earned the Golden Apple Award.
Roxanne Anthony is the Principal at Harrison Elementary School.
She says,” The thing that sticks out most to me about Stephanie, is she goes over and beyond each and every day. She serves certain duties that other people sometimes won’t do. She stays late. She comes early, and she serves everybody in this building in regards to technology as well.”
Stephanie says, “I am a mom, I am a Christian, I am a teacher, I am a lover of all things technology and education. I just really enjoy working here at Harrison and dealing with STEAM and PBL’s.”
Jacob Glancy is the Assistant Principal at Harrison Elementary.
Jacob explains, “Ms. Elgin is phenomenal. I was in her classroom yesterday, and students were learning in various stations around the room. The students were helping each other. They were working at various levels. She was differentiating instructions, so she’s meeting the needs of every single student in her class every single day.”
Stephanie adds, “This is my 17th year teaching in Hamilton County schools, and I have taught from kindergarten all the way through fourth grade, and this year I’m teaching first grade, and I absolutely love it. I’ve had several different people within my life that were teachers that were just really inspiring to me, they just made teaching look like fun, and really made me enjoy learning. So, I wanted to do that for other people.”
Jacob chips in, “She’s exemplary in almost every way. Actually, I can’t really think of any way she’s not. She’s a true deserver of the Golden Apple award.”
Stephanie concludes, “I would love for them to say, that I pushed them to think harder, and that they knew that I loved them and wanted what’s best for them.”
