Gordon County authorities capture homicide, arson suspect

UPDATE (2/5/2025):  The suspect wanted for a homicide/arson last night in Gordon County has been captured.

The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) stated that Christopher Lee Dixon was located underneath a mobile home.

He was shot by authorities during the apprehension.

Dixon is receiving treatment and is expected to survive.

He will face multiple charges, including murder.

More information will be released as the investigation continues.


GORDON COUNTY, Ga. (WDEF) —  The Gordon County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) is searching for a suspect in an apparent homicide.

On February 4, 2025 at 7:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence on James Street for reports of a person shot.

Upon arrival, deputies found the home on fire.

Gordon County Fire Rescue crews fought the fire for hours.

According to GCSO, a body was later discovered inside the home, which burned to the ground.

GCSO deputies are now searching for Christopher Lee Dixon.

Dixon is 46-years-old, 6 feet tall, 240 pounds, with blonde hair and brown eyes.

Warrants have been issued for Dixon’s arrest.

GCSO states he is considered armed and dangerous, and a flight risk.
