Gov. Kemp extends gas tax suspension in Georgia

ATLANTA, Georgia (WDEF) – Governor Brian Kemp is extending Georgia’s sales tax suspension for another month.

The legislature and Governor lifted the state tax on gas last spring when prices were skyrocketing over $4 a gallon.

They have come down considerably since then, as the summer travel season has passed.

AAA reports the average price in Georgia now is $3.36 a gallon, down almost 40 cents from a month ago.

The current order extends the gas tax holiday through October 12.

The governor points out that since he dropped the tax, gas prices in Georgia have been among the lowest in the nation.
