Gov. Lee visits Chattanooga to sign transportation bill
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Governor Bill Lee was in Chattanooga Tuesday to sign the Tennessee Transportation Modernization Act. It’s a piece of legislation centered around roads, which take you where you need to go.
The signing happened at the Apison Pike reconstruction project.
“Transportation is one of those government services that virtually every person in Tennessee takes advantage of and benefits from every single day,” said TDOT Commissioner Butch Eley.
A new bill will help the transportation problems of a growing Tennessee.
“We are here to celebrate the Tennessee Transportation Modernization Act of 2023. That act is a game changer for us and future generations,” Eley added.
It will also address the growing traffic congestion and transportation needs across rural and urban communities.
“We thank them for their support of this Transportation Modernization act which passed on bi-partisan vote, and we’re proud of that,” said Cleveland Chairman Dan Howell. “Thanks to Governor Lee and his staff for making this a real team effort.”
This bill is all about giving back to Tennesseans.
“At the end of the day it’s about making life better for Tennesseans,” Governor Lee said. “It’s making it easier for people to live, work, worship and move from one place to another.”
