Governor Brian Kemp suspending GA gas tax in wake of Helene

ATLANTA, Ga. (WDEF) —  As Georgians are recovering from the impacts of Hurricane Helene, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp announced he’s suspending the gas tax.

Governor Kemp posted the executive order on Facebook, saying the State of Emergency has been extended to October 9, 2024.

The State of Emergency was originally issued September 24, 2024.

Kemp also states starting Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 12:00 a.m. is when the gas tax suspension will begin.

The suspension will end along with the State of Emergency on October 9, 2024.
