Governor Kemp’s ‘Georgia Match’ to help students will college admissions

DALTON, Ga. (WDEF) — Georgia’s Governor Brian Kemp unveiled a new college plan this morning. One that he calls one of the largest direct admissions programs in the country.

The Georgia Match program gives high schoolers a quick pass to schools like Dalton State.

It is all based on 11th grade HOPE GPA and freshman index score.

Those who qualify will receive a letter from the governor beginning next week, listing the 23 state schools they may qualify for.

High school students will start receiving letters from the governor next week listing the higher education institutions that will hold a spot for them.

Institutions that participate will waive student application fees during November 2023 for those who apply through Georgia Match.

“GEORGIA MATCH is a great example of the historic success we can achieve when stakeholders across the education spectrum work together,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “This program will ensure that every high school student in our state knows they have options to learn and succeed here in the No. 1 state for business.”

By the way, the University of Georgia, Georgia Tech and Georgia College are not taking part in the program.
