Gun confiscations drop so far in 2023 at Chattanooga Airport
TSA reports numbers for guns illegally transported on air fights
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – TSA reports the number of gun confiscations at the Chattanooga Airport have been cut in half so far this year.
These are the firearms they find in carry-on luggage.
The number has dropped all across Tennessee for the first half of this year.
The numbers actually went up in Nashville and Tri-Cities, but were down at other state airports.
Here in Chattanooga, the confiscated gun totals have been cut in half over the first part of 2023.

Which implies that travelers are doing a much better job of legally transporting firearms. You are supposed to properly pack them in check baggage, and declare the weapon at the ticket counter. (airlines may have most strict procedures)
Violations can receive criminal citations, fines up to $15,000 and suspension of expedited screening programs.
