Gun Discharged at Hamilton County High School
Principal Gary Kuehn, says, "Another student that was in the office asked if we heard that noise and was that a firearm."
So, school leaders went out to the parking lot, only to find a young man parked near the campus.
At that time the suspect shot his gun into the air for a second time.
Kuehn adds, "from what I understand, he shot into the trees."
The young man then drove off, but was caught on Hunter Road and taken into custody.
Ronnie Smith, a former students, says, "All I hear is they came in, bunch of drama, boy and girl broke up."
Kuehn confirms the suspect is an ex-boyfriend of one of his students, but he was not a student at any Hamilton County school.
Kuehn adds, "We immediately put the school into lockdown. I called 911."
Lockdown was lifted after about one hour, but the excitement at this adult high school, lasted all day.
Smith adds, "Surprised, this is like the safest school, one of the best schools in Hamilton County."
The identity of the suspect has not been released.
