Gun Team links auto burglaries to other crimes

Plus a not-too-subtle tip from Bradley County officers

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Police Gun Team has linked an arrest last week for breaking into vehicles to much larger crimes.

It started when officers were called last Wednesday to a theft in progress.

A neighbor said two men were trying to break into a vehicle.

The officers found two stolen cars and a discarded gun, that also proved to be stolen.

Police used that evidence to serve a search warrant.

From that search, they confiscated:

–Stolen Ruger 57 pistol with a loaded magazine

–Stolen SR9C pistol with a loaded magazine

–Springfield XD 45 pistol with a loaded magazine

–Glock 22 .40 pistol with a loaded magazine

–Stolen Century Arms .308 rifle with a loaded magazine

–3 loaded .308 magazines

–1.26 grams of suspected fentanyl powder

–1.21 grams of suspected fentanyl blue pills

–5 key fobs for suspected stolen vehicles

Gun team investigators have linked three of the weapons to other crimes across the city.

Meanwhile, Bradly County Sheriff’s officials also note a rash of auto burglaries of late.

Their message to drivers is very simple:
