CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Department of Transportation will begin resurfacing Gunbarrel Road on Sunday night.

The roadwork will continue until early Friday morning, according to officials.

Contractors will be doing the work overnight, between 6 p.m. and 7 a.m.

They will mill, repave and stripe the entire roadway between Shallowford and Goodwin Roads, CDOT said.

CDOT added that drivers can still access both northbound and southbound travel during the project.

“Very brief closures may occur at parking lot entrances as the crews mill and repave the outer lanes,” CDOT stated.

Additionally, the intersection of Gunbarrel and Goodwin Road will be resurfaced as well.

There will be flagging teams in the area during the roadwork.

Officials said this work is part of the 2023 Planned Resurfacing Projects for Chattanooga.

All roadwork is weather permitting.
